Join us for an evening of cocktails at the Hotel Americano as we celebrate the publication of Erick Meyenberg: The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg, with the presence of the artist.

This book, edited by Karen Marta, Gabriela Rangel, and Lucía Sanromán, includes the drawings, musical scores, diagrams of choreography, video stills, and other artworks which document and contextualize the artist’s extensive research, as well as critical essays by Gabriela Rangel, Osvaldo Sánchez, and Lucía Sanromán.

The solo exhibition, presented by the Mexican Cultural Institute in collaboration with Americas Society, chronicles the making of a multilayered project by Meyenberg. Working for two years with a local high school marching band in Mexico City, the artist orchestrated a complex performance which took place throughout the capital and that provoked (and continues to provoke) reflections on the pedagogical machinery of discipline, education, gender, and the state.

Books will be sold at the event and are also available at artbook.com.

Admission is free and open to the public but registration is required.
